Professional Training Day & The First Women Forum of Piano Technology UK
A dynamic training day, held on Saturday, 20th September, over twenty piano technicians gathered at The Rugby Hotel for a day of professional development, networking, and inspiration. The event was organised by The Piano Technology School and featured internationally recognised speakers Dean Reyburn and Ricki Klos.
The morning sessions covered highly practical and technical topics. Dean Reyburn, inventor of the CyberTuner app, guided participants through optimising visual tuning, integrating aural and digital approaches, and understanding grand piano action geometry. Ricki Klos delivered an engaging and essential workshop on safe lifting and hearing protection, emphasising how technicians can safeguard their health while carrying out physically demanding work.
A significant and warmly welcomed highlight of the day was the inaugural meeting of The Women of Piano Technology Forum UK. Facilitated by Ricki Klos, this first-of-its-kind gathering in the UK provided a dedicated space for women in the industry to connect, share practical tips, seek advice, and discuss ideas for future collaboration. With ten female piano technicians in attendance, the forum marked an important step in building a supportive community and fostering the growth of women within the profession. The session generated positive energy and a strong desire to continue these conversations, with participants actively contributing ideas for future topics and guest speakers.

This training day marked a significant step forward, not only in professional development but also in celebrating diversity within the field of piano technology. The launch of the Women of Piano Technology Forum UK promised to bring lasting impact and stronger community ties across the profession.
